Bal-Sagoth - Starfire Burning upon the Ice-Veiled Throne of Ultima Thule

Elync's Recommended Winter Listening List Pt. II

Ah, epic black metal. Seriously my favorite form of the genre. This album gives off the feeling of marching in a war-ravaged snow field, sword and axe at your side, and blood on your hands.

Slay some dragons while listening to this album.

  1. "Black Dragons Soar above the Mountain of Shadows (Prologue)" – 3:05
  2. "To Dethrone the Witch-Queen of Mytos K'unn (The Legend of the Battle of Blackhelm Vale)" – 6:45
  3. "As the Vortex Illumines the Crystalline Walls of Kor-Avul-Thaa" – 6:35
  4. "Starfire Burning Upon the Ice-Veiled Throne of Ultima Thule" – 7:23
  5. "Journey to the Isle of Mists (Over the Moonless Depths of Night-Dark Seas)" – 1:11
  6. "The Splendour of a Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath the Blazon of the Hyperborean Empire" – 6:03

Across Tundras - Old World Wanderer

Elync's Recommended Winter Listening List Pt. I

Although not quite winter-sounding, this album is certainly creative, and gives feelings of cold desert night. Clever, and creative. Unique stoner metal, if you could call it that.
Comments appreciated!
Stay tuned for the next installment of Elync's Recommended Winter Listening List!

Elync's Recommended Winter Listening List

Good evening folks.

In the next several months, the weather will become more to my liking... -cold-.
In celebration, I will be uploading a large sum of albums that generally seem to fit with the winter season. The albums listed and linked will either be a direct link to winter, or vaguely reminisce of winter.
The albums will range from popular standards by the artists, to obscure releases of one standard or another. Since this is not "Metal on Mediafire" but rather "Music on Mediafire", there will be a slight variety ranging from modal jazz, folk, electronica, and of course, black metal, and so on and so forth yeahyeahyeahyeah. I hand picked all of these albums, and I hope you enjoy each and everyone!

I will do my best to upload regularly, but seeing as it's a lot of albums, they may take a while to get up here.

So, without further ado:

Thergothon - Stream from the Heavens *broken link*

1.Everlasting06:07
2.Yet the Watchers Guard08:56
3.The Unknown Kadath in the Cold Waste03:49
4.Elemental09:18
5.Who Rides the Astral Wings07:56
6.Crying Blood & Crimson Snow04:42

Released by Avantgarde in 1994. One of my favorite albums ever. Highly recommended. This album is extremely inaccessible, and requires commitment to sit through the whole thing. Personally, I can only listen when I'm at my most depressed state of mind. It also puts me in that state of mind just by listening to it.

maudlin of the Well - bath *broken link*

1.The Blue Ghost/Shedding Qliphoth07:57
2.They Aren't All Beautiful05:36
3.Heaven And Weak07:42
4.(Interlude 1)01:38

8.Birth Pains Of Astral Projection10:34
9.(Interlude 2)02:12
10.Geography05:00

Released by Dark Symphonies on August 7th, 2001. This is not progressive metal. This is not experimental metal. This is avant-garde metal. Art metal. At it's finest (well, almost finest, maudlin of the Well has released several albums which can all be argued as the best). Though not my favorite, this is highly recommended. Highly. More motW to come.
